Robotics Spring Meetings

The SJS Robotics Club is getting ready for the 2018 season. Eight new members have joined from the current 6th grade class. We do not get our 2018 robotics challenges until the fall, but we have a few meetings in the spring to get organized and go over basic robotics.

Michael B. helped Michael S. learn to program the robot to drive around our practice board.

Kristen is building a robot using a design that is very different from last season's robot. She is getting help from one of our parents.
Every year, we pick a team name that reflects the theme of the competition. The students selected "Team Rocket" which fits with our theme of outer space. The students designed t-shirts to go with our new name.

Some students like designing with paper and pencil.

Some students prefer to use t-shirt designing websites.
Here, Paul is presenting his design to the team.
Our spring work is finished! All our students have a basic knowledge of how to program and build our Lego robots. We have a new name and will be ordering our t-shirts. Next, in our summer season, we will take a few trips to get some background knowledge and prepare for a project about space.

K - 2 Craft Club

Craft Club members had fun decorating canvas bags with their initials using fabric paint.  Students will have fun showing off their bags, while using them for the beach, camp, sleep overs, etc.  This was our last Craft Club of the school year - we had a great time!!
